Feature: Leaderboards

Leaderboards have been a frequently requested feature and something we have been planning for a long time. They not only allow us to show user progress for in-VALT features such as plasma and high scores in the Arcade but also for creators to use in districts.

Leaderboards show recognition of achievements and prestige, this is important for user engagement, retention and competition between players.

Leaderboards also allow for rewarding of power users, their progress or skill levels are evident and can be acknowledged in a simple and transparent way.

Goal setting is a critical part of any experience and something we want for our VALT apps and platform alike.

We are implementing web based leaderboards which allows not only flexibility in game but also in the outside world. Being able to display this information on a website or even another game was a critical requirement.

Feature: Plasma

Plasma is our brand new XP or experience point system and is the first step in the VALT economy.

Plasma allows us to reward users and incentivise tasks and activities, winning a competition for example or collecting chests.

Rewards can take many shapes and include the ability to claim in-game assets such as FoXes as well as real world prizes including NFTs and physical goodS.

Plasma can’t be sold, traded or spent, it is a measure of seniority and experience inside the platform.

Going forward Plasma will be made available not only in the core VALT and districts but also on our platform, this allows external games and experiences to use Plasma. KOGs Quest will be the first example of this use case.

Feature: Reward Chests

Reward chests tie in very closely with Plasma and Leaderboards and this is a big driver for releasing these features simultaneously.

Chests are an important vessel for earning Plasma and ultimately the rewards that Plasma offers.

The unique feature of chests is the ability to drive traffic to particular areas, it goes beyond simply encouraging users to sign in each day and stay engaged. If the daily chest is spawned in a particular district then this will encourage users to visit that district to earn the daily Plasma reward, assisting creators and district owners in gaining exposure.

This doesn’t just apply to districts though, encouraging exploration in an area of the VALT that may have had a visual upgrade or an important feature added is also very important.

Token gating is an important feature of rewards chests and it means we can make some chests and hence rewards exclusive to holders of certain NFTs. This allows us to reward NFT holders and offer exclusivity.

We have set these up in the following way:

• Yellow for daily treasures waiting to be found and claimed
• Blue catering to RFOX ID users
• Green exclusively for esteemed CitiXen holders
• CitiXen holders can claim all three and boost their earnings
